Black Love visits Atlanta!

By invitation only well not really if you're familiar with local events you could've signed up to attend this evening event Black Love. My friend Kara Norman invited me to a night out to one of her favorite shows on TV for an open discussion into challenges that come up in a marriage. We enjoyed an evening of what would be considered a live broadcast of the show with special celebrity guest Grant Hill and Tamia. It was an evening of conversation dealing with marriages from different perspectives and couples from all ranges from newlyweds two couples with plenty of skin in the game dealing with the real issues in overcoming to stay together. During our outing we had lots of fun at the photo booth provided by Far Out Galaxy! They also gave us lots of fun gifts from and Kara and I got a chance to grab a quick picture with the celebrity panelist!!! Exciting night I was all smiles and enjoyed every minute of my time.

40th Birthday Celebration in the Garden !

You've heard of a vegatable garden, a flower garden and even a secret garden. So with all that in mind earlier this year we were contacted by Ronda, she was putting together her birthday celebration and she decided to have an intimate dinner with friends in her private home. The theme of the dinner party was Garden.

Friends How many of us have them? Well for Ronda, she has quite a few that joined her for a private chef table experience. It was a milestone birthday and she decided to celebrate with her closest friends over some delicious dinner paired up with the best-tasting wine for the entree. We were so happy to be apart of the beautiful celebration and we totally appreciate being able to take a delicious plate home.

A Moment with Mother!

A moment with mother!

A flash back to the  Saturday before Mother's Day we travel approximately 60 miles to Serenbe Farms to capture a beautiful luncheon with daughters and their mothers. This event really had me feeling warm and fuzzy on the inside. Seeing the love between mothers and daughters. One delightful part of the luncheon was a video presentation that featured the daughters giving special Mother's Day messages. For me it warms my heart to be able to capture these timeless images that will be cherished for generations to come.

The ladies were able to mix and mingle while we awaited the program to start.

Ladies enjoyed a beautiful video presentation of the daughters giving Mother's Day messages to their mothers. After the presentation they were gifted with beautiful charmed necklaces. 

A game was played of how much you know about your mother which brought lots of laughs

40 Years of Love... A Beautiful love Story ...

Way Back in 2016 (as though that was a lifetime ago :) we had the true pleasure to capture this beautiful love story of Mr. & Mrs. Palmer. 

So here goes the story...

A true Blessing indeed to be ab le to capture the lives of many everyday people who are doing wonderful things that can teach you lessons to carry on in your life. Today was a day I was blessed to capture a beautiful 40 year old love story and the off springs of that union 40 years ago . This date was filled with beautiful stories of the couple a skit of how they came to be and the beautiful offsprings from this union...

This beautiful event was created by Rebecca Palmer the eldest daughter of the Palmers - Infinite Affairs 

This stunning couple were waiting for the grand entrance .

The Palmer's made their grand entrance and was greeted by family & friends 

The children of the Palmer's entertained their parents and guest with playing tunes from the instruments they played in school. They children also acted a full skit for guest and parents giving the history of how they came to be. 

The Beautiful Family including parents and offsprings grandchildren and extended family members.

One two buckle my shoe three four feet flat on the floor.... kiddie theme rhymes takes me back to times in the past when it seems like everything was so simple.  That brings me to this classic birthday celebration. Hop Scotch & Jacks Tournament! 

We were thrilled to captured moments of Christina's 9th Birthday Celebration.

Being Boss Visits Atlanta!!

Nothing thrills me more then giving to to an event and meeting some of your social media inspiring persons in person. So here's the scoop. I  discovered  the being Boss Podcast in 2015 and have been following the along since. So early in April these boss ladies released their first book based on teheir podcast and so when they were scheduled to come to Atlanta I immediately signed up to be there . It was like a live podcast! Special guest Emily Thompson (1 of the authors of the book takked about their beginnings how things came along and she then took questions from the audience. I was excited to get my book signed as well as grab a photo.

We recently hosted our Portfolio & Perspectives Style Shoot Workshop in Atlanta, Georgia

As we were busy styling up our main table for seating we were inspired... So here goes my story of Inspiration! 

So those who are not familiar with the rap star Cardi B she has been headlining blogs, news outlets and she was made super popular by her authentic style on Instagram. This young female rapper just recently dropped her debut album and when I saw the cover art I was so inspired.

I absolutely love loud colors they scream happiness to me. So with the inspiration of the album art cover, I was inspired to design my recent table scape for our Portfolios & Perspectives Event Design Workshop around the inspiration of the album cover. Searched my mind and took an immediate inventory of items already owned that I can pull this look together. Just a few basics and we got what we envision the color palette that screams fun!

This was a fun table scape to put together! I love lots of colors its screams happiness. 

So I hope you are able to feel the joy in the images as we were excited about creating

Styled Shoot Workshop Based in Atlanta, Georgia  

A dream realized one that came through it was a cold winter day in January one day after a major extreme winter weather storm and we were blessed with an appointment with the dream Coach Tiara LaShae Johnson we met we talked and upon leaving the session she assisted me in pulling out some dreams and aspirations. During our session she assisted me in creating deadlines for my goals. Starting with what I plan to do in the next seven days, then on the next 2weeks followed by 30 day deadline and last but not least 3 month goal. 

 The three month deadline was to host  for the second time our Portfolio and Perspective Event Design Workshop this event is created for up-and-coming designers and photographers  looking to build a solid portfolio to showcase their talents while getting their professional images of their work from a variety of perspectives. After   months of planning venue shopping marketing for the event looking for vendors sponsors the day finally came and we were able To bring an intimate group of designers together to showcase their talents. Ajs Catering Atlanta provided a beautiful spread of delicious bites. Special guest speaker Kara norman provided a Mamosa bar with all the fancy fixin's

Portfolios & Perspective is a Style Shoot workshop based in Atlanta, Georgia created to assist up and coming event planners(designers) and event targeted photographers with interactive workshop to build the portfolios they need to display their talents to their potential clients. Designers are colloborating with industry professionals to put together a style shoot to show their style and creative idea for social events. Photographers are capturing the work of creatives to showcase their style giving a variety of perspectives for the designers.  This workshop also allows you to get the necessary professional images to be displayed on your website and across your social media platforms. 

How Are You Building Your Portfolio?

I am excited to be a guest speaker at Kustom Kreation Photography & Celebration Décor’s Portfolio & Perspective event this weekend!  It is an opportunity for event designers and planners to come be inspired, create beautiful styled shoots and have them professionally photographed.

The host Elisha Akram is a divinely talented Atlanta based photographer who has helped hundreds of brands create stunning portfolios and branding images.  She has definitely polished up my portfolio!  My branding Empower Hour photo and new headshots for this blog were taken and designed by her – isn’t she fabulous!  

It will be a fun day of flowing in your creative gifts, connecting with those who love the elements of a magnificent event and having your work photographed by different photographers.  It is also nice to see the different perspectives that are captured through the different lenses as well as the tables that are created by the different event planners.

I’m excited to be a part of this creative day and to help empower the attendees to remember to make their self-care a priority when they are pouring into others.  We are constantly evolving and changing and it is good to constantly check in with yourself and your brand.  We can get caught up in social media and what others are doing or get so busy and worn down that we forget our own creative spirit and our why. 

Praying for a blessed event and that God will also help me build my own portfolio to speak more and empower others with my story, journey and wisdom!  I am also excited to style the Mimosa Bar at the event to remind the attendees to celebrate and to take time to toast their gifts and every aspect of their journey.  I created Empower Her, Inc. to combine my love of event planning and my desire to empower women and girls through amazing events. So fun to get back into the things that I love after taking time out to take care of myself and my family.

I'm actually super shy in front of the camera... but in person I'm super silly love to laugh and have a good time... in my earlier days... I use to rap so I love rhymes and poetry... not the strongest lyricists but my words would rhyme and I thought they were Dope!!! Now a days you can catch me capturing special moments for special people! I enjoy connecting with people. 2007 On a mission to capture everything- My anniversary journal

It’s My 11th Anniversary in Photography Service, For the next eleven days, I will journey through my experience of beginning Kustom Kreation Photography…

2007-

After starting my journey fall of 2006 as 2007 approached I was clear on my way to shooting anywhere from Fashion and Glamour, Portrait Weddings and Special events. I begin to shoot my then seven year old son and t-ball team. Taking actions photos of the team as well as individual posed pictures. During this year I became pregnant with my second child. I was not going to allow my pregnancy to be a factor in my budding photography business. More then ever I was pursuing my passion. Capturing my own maternity pictures. Taking on many special events. For the 1st time I was recommended to do special event photography for a celebrity event.  I was scarred out of my wits seeing that I was a budding new artist. Nervous and scarred I took on this project and with the feedback I received from my client was one of the biggest lessons to date moving forward capturing special events. This was a real breakout year… I was shooting any and everything…

2006 When It all began- My anniversary journal

It’s My 11th Anniversary in Photography Service, For the next eleven days, I will journey through my experience of beginning Kustom Kreation Photography…

2006 is when my journey officially begin after history of creating picture art and always toting my camera around capturing many amazing events in my journey in life. After encouragement for others I finally decided to invest in my 1st DSLR camera (Nikon D50) thanks to my personal photographer friend Willie Ross of Ross Photography that advised me of what camera to get started with. Once I was able to purchase  my camera I was eager to capture any and everything. I was now a professional photographer and it was time for friends and family to get on board and hire me for all their photography needs. My initial goal was to be like the 20 minute mall photographer where you go right in take pictures and prints done in less then an hour. I would have my new clients come to my in home studio take pictures and print them off from my inkjet computer and viola! I had a studio & printing facility right in the comforts of home. Over time ideas information and processes change. Grateful for all opportunities that came my way in the very 1st beginning. Every dream has to start somewhere and here’s to my evolution in my photography journey!

Foodie Tuesday By Smarty Marty- Taco Tuesday with Turkey

This week meal is a classic Taco Tuesday... with Turkey and all the delicious fixings!!!

Ingredients

• 1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
• 2 teaspoons ground cumin
• 1 teaspoon ground paprika
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
• 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
• 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
• 1 (12 ounce) package ground turkey
• 1/2 cup water
• 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
• 1 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar

Directions

Mix chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and cayenne together in a small bowl.

Cook turkey in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat, stirring to break up clumps, until no longer pink, 3 to 5 minutes. Stir in chili powder mixture and water. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until most of the liquid has been absorbed, about 10 minutes.

Stir cider vinegar and brown sugar into the skillet. Simmer until flavors combine, 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer to a serving bowl.

Flappy Dresses, designer head gear.. feathers pearls and boas all the details for a special 20's theme birthday celebration.  The year was 2012 and in true style Jade Ladson invited us to a intimate dinner party with friends at Brio! Fun Food & Lots of Laughter as we celebrated Jade.  We enjoyed great conversation, dinner and  delicious desserts All guest came dressed in their best 20's gear! 

Jade is always planning something fun and amazing for her friends to celebrate with her!
