Rest Relaxation and Exploration

It's the weekend! For many of us, we use this time to Rest and Relax or Explore.

You may have had a long week and you were looking to stay inside sleep in if you are used to early rising maybe even take time and relax with a book.

Sometimes for me, the energy of a Saturday morning gives me really high vibrations and a creative spirit.

I had thoughts of going out to check out new places in the city or even sitting down in the park with my notebook to write down any ideas I may have. There are other times that I want to work on some art projects that need to be finished. Today we want to give a few ideas for relaxation and exploration for the weekend.

Here are a few relaxation ideas for the weekend

Another Day Another Dollar

Where exactly did that analogy come from? I tend to have random thoughts and most time I write what I’m thinking down in some type of journal or I will write thoughts on the note app on my phone.

I look up the meaning and the history. Found it pretty interesting. Click here to learn more!

After learning what that means, the saying is pretty dreadful. So we will change it up a bit:

Another Day Making Dollars!!! (that maybe a bit better with a more positive meaning)

As a freelance photographer my days are filled up in a cycle of prospecting, editing, following up, preparing, marketing, and creating and publishing. So each day can be different depending on what’s on the schedule for the day.

Another day Another Dollar. In our world not all the time. The day maybe spent just thinking about the next time you will make that dollar by publishing information to the world that welcome them into your business to take a look around to see if you provide anything worth wild that they are willing to part from their dollars to give to you 🙂

So what you are doing today that will change your tomorrow can change that phrase

of Another day another dollar. We have the power within us to create the world around us.

It’s up to us to equip ourselves with what is needed.

There is a time when you challenge yourself to be committed to a goal you set. Many times everything starts out you are totally excited and you envision yourself getting to the finish line. Yay! Then all of a sudden busy schedules and other commitments getting in the way or the I don't feel like attitude shows up. Uh Oh your in trouble! Yep because now you ready to give in to excuses. However for me I'm looking to push through on the challenges and show up. It might not be perfect and I may make errors along the way but I'm committed. How do you push through and be committed to your goal?

Never Give Up!

As I reflect on my life and we think about our families I was reminded of never giving up even when the days come when you feel like throwing in the towel, I immediately thought about my grandmother and how she move from Sparta Georgia being a widow and raising five children on her own after my grandfather was killed while working. She moved her family up north for a better life for her children. My grandmother who didn’t know how to read or write. My grandmother who signed her name with an X. My grandmother who didn’t give up and with limited resources she provided a life for her children. I’m reminded that the reason I am here today is because she didn’t give up. Despite all that we face. I’m reminded about those ancestors who came before me and was subjected to so much harsh and cruel conditions but they made it… and If they can make it through the conditions that challenge them I know for a fact that I can make it. So I’M reminding once again.

So as I continued my journey in photography and was seizing every opportunity that I could. Our schedule as a family was pretty full being a solo parent and having a elementary student and a toddler can keep a person pretty busy!

The passion for succeeding in this photography thing was burning inside of me and kept me going… I was active in my sons school as a parent he was in activities and sports kept up with my youngest son who was very toddler while still pursuing my photography endeavors and working …..

Did someone say photography??!!!

We are telling our story of how we entered in this photography journey and how things began for us …

So as I was saying we picked up our camera in 2006 and we’ve haven’t put it down since… our camera has connected us with so many people places & things it’s amazing how the decision to follow your heart and decide to go for it how life changes for you!

When I first got laid off my job in early 2006 I cashed out my 401k and invested in backdrop and lighting equipment and was looking for anyone who’s interested in taking pictures with my muslin backdrop and lights. Fast forward later that same year when I got my professional grade Camera oh boy it was on and popping this time I’m looking for more people to take pictures with my backdrop lights and stuff.

Take a chance.

Folks really will take a chance with you and if your good they will tell someone else. Just like that I had a business right in the living room of my apartment capturing 2 and 3 hour sessions for $25 why so cheap… because I was an amateur looking to keep practicing to get better with my work.

  • Spend sometime outdoors

  • Grab Paper Pen ( markets colored pencils crayons) do some drawing

  • Go for a walk

  • Color in a coloring book

  • Do some journaling

  • Write some gratitude notes

  • Start a garden or plant some seeds

  • Write down 5 reasons that it’s a great day to be alive

Faith- Free Download!

In these trying times and with so much going on in the world now more than ever people need a prayer they need something positive to keep them going and for most of us We got to have FAITH to get us through.

For years, I’ve rode around with my faith image and a bottle of mustard seeds right next to them. When I’m feeling down and I need to overcome I simply open up the bottle and take out one and look at how small it is and read over the bible verse Matthew : 17:20


 “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. “


We want to encourage today and always keep the Faith Keep holding on.. and when in doubt measure it up with holding in your hand a mustard seed!

I never looked at myself as successful. Although I've been running around with my camera for years and at one point I was capturing so many special events I was like ... I am the women I'm running this event scene in Atlanta 

I'm the go to event photographer and I'm working with so many event planners and what makes it even better is that I'm a Certified event planner too!

That makes my job even better. Not only do I capture great images to tell the story of the event, but I pay attention to details and I'm building everyone’s portfolio! 

Yay me!!! 

Well well.... it wasn't until I attended a photography workshop and I straight came out of my bubble.... I thought everyone in attendance were new to this game of photography , but when I start seeing all the photo gear and seeing photos taken by my fellow photographer I suddenly realize... Oh you are not who you think you are for sure. 

I became intimated and now I didn't want to show my work due to being called out by rookie errors and not knowing the proper way to balance light for the photos. 

Well I continued into my dream world of being the go to social event photographer and I was determine to polish up my skills 

So again I would look at all these magazine worthy photos and great shots with beautiful lighting with hopes that one day I will be that successful photographer

I had hopes to work with some of the finest vendors in Atlanta! 

Then one day after going through some images from an event I realize I worked along side of a vendors that is in the who's who of events around Atlanta and that wow... You really are successful.

uncertain of what that really meant for me in the beginning but through this journey I realize you have captured amazing images you work with amazing vendors and your images have been used in magazines, blogs book covers flyers and so much more. So success is all in what it is meant to you personally and goals that you set out to achieve... 

So re design success on what that means to you and you will be and Already Are successful!

Being Boss Visits Atlanta!!

Nothing thrills me more then giving to to an event and meeting some of your social media inspiring persons in person. So here's the scoop. I  discovered  the being Boss Podcast in 2015 and have been following the along since. So early in April these boss ladies released their first book based on teheir podcast and so when they were scheduled to come to Atlanta I immediately signed up to be there . It was like a live podcast! Special guest Emily Thompson (1 of the authors of the book takked about their beginnings how things came along and she then took questions from the audience. I was excited to get my book signed as well as grab a photo.

We recently hosted our Portfolio & Perspectives Style Shoot Workshop in Atlanta, Georgia

As we were busy styling up our main table for seating we were inspired... So here goes my story of Inspiration! 

So those who are not familiar with the rap star Cardi B she has been headlining blogs, news outlets and she was made super popular by her authentic style on Instagram. This young female rapper just recently dropped her debut album and when I saw the cover art I was so inspired.

I absolutely love loud colors they scream happiness to me. So with the inspiration of the album art cover, I was inspired to design my recent table scape for our Portfolios & Perspectives Event Design Workshop around the inspiration of the album cover. Searched my mind and took an immediate inventory of items already owned that I can pull this look together. Just a few basics and we got what we envision the color palette that screams fun!

This was a fun table scape to put together! I love lots of colors its screams happiness.
